Sundays

We get about 4200 Sundays in our life time. In fact we get almost all week days equally i.e. 4200 in normal healthy life. Sunday is always taken as the best day of week. The treatment to this day is very special as compared to the other days of the week. Initially it goes on without noticing but soon when education starts, it becomes the most preferred day. After attaining maturity we start planning for this day and finish off many pending chorus at home and office. It is the day we repair ourselves most, we worship the God, we take afternoon rest, we go for shopping, we touch base the social gatherings and interactions. All in one day. Probably this day comprises all activities and still we say,"Sunday is Rest Day". It means we are tired of work only and if any day we don't have regular work or school, it is always treated as rest day. This mindset is worldwide, because through out the life we are never tired of social work, entertainment, play etc. what tires us is work and study. In western part and now in almost all the continents, we have doubled the number of Sundays by working five days a week. Soon it would be tripled also (Four days is being asked in developing nations). Are we really tired or it is just the mental sickness of feeling tiredness. If we enjoy the work and study, there would never be any need of so many rest days. God is not going to enhance the life by additional Sundays. Whatever we lost, it would be from our own account and hence should be planned accordingly. In my view we should change the mindset and working days should be treated as rest days. Though it may sound bore to feel so but if we reverse the mindset, it would give long and healthy life. Most of the people feel stress of business, job and study. All this would have gone and the life would be different.

Truly said..The world is as u see it..I agree to ur thoughts tht it is ones mindset which has made him or her workoholic..n it is due to lackof planning. If one plans his or her work it would be enjoyable. It is human mentality which has made a so called rest day, where, inspite of resting mentally n physically , has made it the most busiest n boring day. Generally all humans have a habit of keeping things pending..which r done on the rest day, so tht their coming week would be free from those hassels..but he forgets tht the story is repeated every week. But wht can one do..so many things to be done by a single person..so better the work should be planned n divided according to the capability..which would ease the life. Whtever chores we do on the rest day should be regularly done so tht each day is like the rest day..Being a female would just like to ask..is there any rest day for a female..a housewife..is she given a chance to enjoy her rights..think over it..Still she keeps on working day n night without grumbling..Hats off to all the females..belated Happy womens day to all.

I agree with you...but what is set is for majority of people...majority of whom work only for livelihood and not for enjoyment.
Yet as a medical man, I can say that breaking the monotony should be there in some or other way (Sunday is a must, asking for more is not)...especially if it is not the work you enjoy. And adding to it, social obligations also play its role.
In business or profession, it may be easy to plan your things even in weekdays, but in jobs (as we are experiencing), weekends have so many pending works to be completed so as to go into next week smoothly...though we enjoy our work and are on emergency duties also without considering day or time.
Lastly about woman, our social structure is like that only but now it is changing gradually (as it should be), yet there are some basic differences, Got has instilled (like my daughter likes to cook food in her toy utensils, while boys like to play around and break things) and at 3 years of age, we have not taught them this behavior.
I may sound orthodox, but I know that I am not...
