After long gap I was in Mumbai today to meet some of the colleagues and other business meets. The mood here in finance capital was bit down and people were just waiting for the coming budget. It is a matter of guess for we general public to sense about the budget, but the fact remains that the budget is by the politicians and can not be for the benefit of industry at their cost. Whatever the budget, it would be with a sharp eye on elections and hence I believe the goodies, would be more for the general voters and may not be much of benefit to the economy. Although our country got independence in 1947 i.e. about 65 years ago, the real economic independence happened in 1991 and hence in that sense we are less than quarter century old country with "to some extent free " economy. Even in these 21-22 years the government was never equally aggressive for development of the country due to the fact that in all these years the country is run by coalition politics and every one has to keep in mind the interest of all supporting parties particularly regional parties who are more dominating these days. Thus the political compulsions have always suppressed the growth of the country and as i mentioned, the politicians decide the fate of the country's economy along with other areas, a nation like ours need more patience to grow. Despite this fact our country has really grown very fast after we came out of the shell of socialism and decide to open up the economy in 1991.
